Journey toward Homeschool

When G rolled over at 6 weeks. I thought it was  a prank, when he began teething at 2 months no one believed me. When hand dominance was obvious at 4 months, I thought maybe it was a stage. When he was reading a handful of sight words before his second birthday, I started to wonder what I was going to do with this kid, who picked up everything a little ahead of the curve.

We did some kindergarten workbooks, we talk about everything we do, we expose him to as much as we can. I called the Board of Education to try to start kindergarten early. They aren't required to enroll him. Would he be able to skip a  grade when he was able to start? No. I talked to my high school son's elementary teachers. Ummm no suggestions except keep doing what you're doing. So I have.

Tomorrow is Kindergarten registration. My son tells everyone he's in first grade at home. The question today is do I enroll him for one year of 1/2 day kindergarten, meet the neighborhood kids, then bring him home to learn, to love learning, to experience the world around him and all it has to offer. I guess I'll find out tomorrow, because today I just don't know.
